“Tauusk is an instrumental ambient/drone/doom band from Romania focused on evoking and exploring ethereal and ominous soundscapes. Tauusk strives to play around with the power of suggestion.
Through sonic ambiguity and general vagueness, the music offers only general guidelines towards basic interpretation, the rest being up to the listener’s imagination. Ritual and nature plays an important part in composition, but the same is true for the color and timbre of tones, not through purity, but through texture. Due to the experimental nature of the project, form and structure, like in nature, is ever changing, recorded songs being just frozen facets of existence. Tauusk formed as a side-project of Razvan Lazea-Postelnicu, bass player in some notable Romanian bands. Songs are, to date, recorded entirely by him, though guest musicians might accompany him in live setups. The concept quickly grew and the debut album – a double album over two hours in length – Refuge, was released in the band’s first year of existence. The self-released album saw positive reviews.” Tauusk Press Release

Praise For Hermit:
“If meditated upon Hermit is the type of album that could pull you down further into yourself than you could be willing to travel. There is engagement here, it is an altogether alluring album. Yet underneath it all lurks something wholly sinister, something waiting to blacken your soul ever so slightly with just a touch or a soft kiss on the cheek. Like the final minutes of the track “Forest” it builds and builds until it can no longer be contained. Danger breeds adventure. It breeds excitement and if this is the type of excitement you thirst then you’ve stopped at the right album to experiment with.” Lonesome Noise
“From the first pulsations of ‘Hither’, you are thrown into a vast, black cave. Its ambiance is amplified by its thick and eternal monumental structure. There’s nothing for you to see there—only the sound waiting for you to surrender so it can fully captivate you. In his debut album, the double-CD Refuge, Romania’s Tauusk was slower and perhaps just a bit more synthetic, and also a bit more careful with its listener. If Refuge was ‘Hello, this is me’, then Hermit is a firm grip around your wrists: a ‘Follow me’, ordered by a wall of drones that merge with your whole body, resonating in your insides for about an hour.” HEATHEN HARVEST PERIODICAL
“Overwhelmed by the constant onrush of sound layers and under a strong influence of ominous atmospheres, you will get lost in the pulse of this one easily. This album takes the whole story of
TAUUSK further, and it is a bright guideline to follow in the future. Hermit drowned us in sound, droned us through some pretty disturbing moments and prepared a challenging task for our nerves. Basically, the e¬ect of this release was like watching an excellent horror movie, just much better. Drone on!” OFFCYCLES
Praise For Refuge:
“Holy fuck this one is absolutely fucking massive, a doom drone to rival Sunn O))), with glacial black feedback and harrowing electronics, Refuge is a monolithic record that fucks with everything, all from a single Romanian dude, and this has no business being a digital only free* release on Bandcamp, granted it clocks in at over 2 hours (!) and the opening track is 37 minutes long (!!) but still, someone hook this dude up with a label so we can get him on the fast track to Vinyl-ville (sorry).” ANTI-GRAVITY BUNNY
